Last week I went to "The Country Store" hosted by Gypsy Traders, an antique collectors club I belong to. As soon as I saw this cute little decorated pot of hens and chicks I knew it was for me. I love the orange gingham bow and little witch trying to hide from us. For now I have it sitting on the hall tree but eventually I'll put it on the patio. Do you see the Home Sweet Home print? This is one of my most favorite sentiments, I've always liked the picture but I've decided to cross stitch my own Home Sweet Home.
I adore samplers and this is the sweetest! Just a few more stitches and the alphabet will be finished. Love the hearts, and the brown begins the house, then comes Home Sweet Home. I hope to have this finished before Thanksgiving, I'm kinda pokey so we'll see. Wishing you a "Home Sweet Home".........Linda

Hi Linda
Your little pot of hens & chicks is adorable! The sampler you are working on will be gorgeous. I love samplers too.
Wow! Your sampler is fabulous! I would never finish...they'd have to settle for a crooked ABC! LOL
Hugs,
Dena
I love samplers too! I've made a few, but don't seem to enjoy cross stitching as much as I did before I needed reading glasses. :( Yours is looking beautiful.
Beautiful sampler! That is wonderful!
Linda,

Hens and chickens are so cute in that fabric-covered pot! What a great idea..

Linda,
I love samplers. And Home Sweet Home is a favorite of mine as well. It's my favorite scent from Yankee Candle too, come to think of it.
Your sampler is darling and I can't wait to see the finished product. Can you tell me why they're called 'samplers'???
Love,
julie
My Mom always had hen and chicks. It's such a sweet plant. To answer Julie. I think they were called Samplers because a long time ago young girls would practice their stitches on them and sign and date them. The very very old ones can be quite expensive to buy. ~ Lynn
Funny that we were both displaying our Home Sweet Home signs today.
Great Minds:)
I love to cross stitch and embroider, but I am pretty pokey too. Your sampler looks great!

Love the pot of hen & chicks...the orange gingham ribbon makes it look so "fallish".
You're doing a great job on your Home Sweet Home cross stitch. I used to do cross stitch but haven't in some time. My eyes aren't as good as they once were. I did an earlier post on my blog with pictures of a couple of my pieces.
Linda
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog earlier this evening and leaving your sweet comment. Please come again...you're always welcome.
I've enjoyed my visit here to your blog too and will return again. It looks like we enjoy some of the same blogs.
Hugs!

I Love Hens & Chickens, they were always in our flower gardens when I was growing up, that brings back some wonderful childhood memories for me ;)
The Sampler is beautiful, I haven't done any cross stitch for years...
Angie
