Hello everyone, hope you are having a nice Sunday. We are having a nice day here even though it is raining and cold. We talked to our family in Texas and did some catching up with friends too. The weather yesterday was nice, so my hubby went to his favorite little flea market and met up one of his buds. They poked around and found some neat things and he found some treasures for me too. I love, love, love hankies and he is always on the lookout for them. I should tell you even when I was little I always carried a little purse with a hankie tuck inside. This hankie was my Granma's. Her first name was Mae and that is my middle name. Well, when she passed away my Grandfather gave me all her hankies and they are some of my favorites things I have of hers. I think that is probably how my hankie collection got started. At peddlers fairs I'm always looking for a new one to add to my collection. I especially like.......
Hankies with the initial of my first name. In all the years of collecting I've only found two with my initial...actually Carl found them.
I have a collection of holiday hankies, bride hankies, embroidered ones and bright florals. Well any way when Carl came home he had a little package of sweet hankies. There were five..........................
Two pretty floral designs one yellow and the other the prettiest pink. Can you see the one with the little nosegay and the one with little Indians..too cute, and then this yellow one with the initial....."Honey is this initial hankie for me?"
"Yes, I know how much you like initial hankies." "Honey this is the initial F." "Let me see, Linda you are too so dinghy (a pet name from high school), it's suppose to be like this."......
Mmmm, I don't think so. What do you think? L, for Linda or maybe F for forever, that would work. Either way I love it....and it's the thought that counts. Hugs, Linda

Oh my, those hankies are lovely. The embroidery is so very well done. A superb collection, and your Grandmothers hankies just make the memories even better.
How sweet that your husband goes to fleas without you and brings home little hankies!

Oh, Linda...what a beautiful collection. They are so pretty and I LOVE anything with initials...doesn't matter whos! I am interested in how you display them. I would love to start a hankie collection but have always wondered how I could display them. Would hate to put such pretty things in a drawer. Thanks for sharing!!
hugs, bj

My Dad sent my Mom a hankie with every letter he wrote while he was gone to war...... I have all those hankies and am making a quilt. I am slow at it as I do not have much time but I think I will try to finish it this year.... there are about 14 of them I think....... they are beautiful........ I love yours......
Aweee F for fantastic hubby for finding sweet treasures for you!
My grandma use to crochet around hankies....I don't think I have any left....but back when I was little, who thought about saving things that grandma made....but now if only i could find one... When I go to Amish Country, I always buy my Aunt a couple hankies, for she still uses them... And your right flea market always have some really cool ones... I love the ones your hubby found for you.....I do have one from China, silk with birds embrod. on it....so I used it in a scrapbook page I made and framed... I put a couple pictures of a little girl in China that I write to, and I hung it on my craft room wall..... nice post... judy
I got my grandmothers hankies too. I remember she always wore an apron and always had a clean hankie in the pocket. When I was little those hankies dried a lot of tears and were always so soft. I keep her handkerchiefs in a drawer, wish I could think of a good way to display them.
I also collect hankies as well. My grand mother always had the most beauitful lace ones. She would give my sister and I one every Easter for our new purses that always matched our Easter hats. Katie
p.s. my favorite ones are the ones with birds or flowers on them.
Oh, my gosh - I LOVE hankies! I have made a couple of valances out of them. If you haven't seen that post, and you are interested, I believe it is under the posts labelled "home sweet home", one of my earlier posts. Thanks for coming to see me last night! I'll be posting tonight! Have a great week, Linda! Love, Esther
Great hankie collection!

My mom makes the most darling little hanky bonnets & dresses. I was lucky to get a few for my daughter before she decided that she hates girly things =) Blessings... POlly

I love hankies and I never have found any here in our flea markets or rummage sales. You would have thought these Southern ladies would have used them.
I love your hankies...they are so pretty!
Hugs,
Robin
Hi Linda,
I had a collection of hankies as a child. Yours are so pretty.
I'm sure mine got lost somewhere along the way.
Thanks for sharing them with us,
Rosemary
I like hankies too. My Grandma who died when I was 15 had so many pretty ones. I loved to play with them, and she would let me!

Good Morning Linda,
I am here for coffee. I am feeling some better this morning and did a new post and am out trying to catch up with everyone again. It is a cloudy and cold and very windy day here. A good day to stay inside for sure. Oh my, I so love all of your little Hankies. They are just beautiful. Your hubby did you good by buying them for you. Don't you just love it when your hubby surprises you with something you really love? I know I do. Take care my friend and have a great day. "THANK YOU" for the coffee. May God Bless You and Yours.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
What a fun collection and memories. Your hubby is so thoughtful in adding to your collection. I have an aunt who collects old hankies. I would love to see hers someday.
What a lovely collection you have! They are so pretty! I have just a few special ones.
~ Sharon
Hi Linda,
Hope you are having a wonderful day. Stop by and visit. I have something for you.
Dona
I, too, had a Grandmom who was a hankie user. I have a few, but none to compare to yours. I loved looking at them. Thanks for sharing.
What a sweetie to bring home hankies for you. Those fancy initials can be just about anything you want them to be, but I like F for Forever. You'll have to show us how you display them some day.
Hi Linda,
I'm here from Dona's wonderful blog. Those hankies are so neat of your Grandmothers, that's so nice. Love that your husband likes to flea market too and brings back just what you like.
I think the hankie should depend on what mood you're in ~ Fabulous, Funky, Frilly or Flea Market Linda!
Happy to have found you.
~Tracie
Wow, you have just a fabulous hankie collection! I love the fact you have ones with your initials on them, but you also have some lovely printed ones.
Recently I've found a couple of vintage "hankie bags." Have you ever seen these? They're typically satin and were made in the 40s and 50s, to hold ladies' hankie accumulations. I think it's fascinating the little bit of history these sorts of things represent.
What a nice hankie collection! I love vintage hankies! I'm trying to see if you have any with yellow roses, I collect yellow rose hankies!
Congratulations on the Sparkle Award too!
Katherine
I love this post because I also love hankies. I have a very small collection. I am not sure how to display them. Any ideas?
Also - check out my blog. I am in the process of tagging you for a meme. Lucky you!
Hey Linda!
I linked over from Sharon's blog - it's my first time visiting you here! What a beautiful blog with such a lovely name! As soon as I saw my favorite herb in it, I had to flutter on over. ;o) Your hanky post is darling...I just can't choose a favorite!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Makes me wonder where all of mine are. When I was a child one of my jobs was to have to iron things like this. I guess I didn't appreciate them much then but they're pretty now.
Very pretty hankies. What a great collection. ~Martha
I buy vintage hankies too. I had one with my initial, carried it to my Mama's funeral and lost it. Haven't seen one with an S since.
Thanks for sharing.
