~ Happy May Day ~

Happy May Day! Today is May 1st, a time to surprise friends and family with a poesy or two. When you were in school did you make May baskets for your family or a neighbor? We did...our teachers would bring flowers from home and we would fill our baskets, run home, hang them on the front door, ring the doorbell then hide. It was so fun watching that special person when they opened the door.....here are a few May flowers from my yard and out and about. Wisteria intwined with a tree in our backyard...I love it.
This azalea blooms without fail every year.....

Pretty yellow iris...for some reason iris blooms make me think of orchids.

Beautiful snowball bush...I wish it were mine......

My all time favorite rose, Secret. This rose has the most beautiful fragrance...I wish you could smell it and I wish you a wonderful May Day...hugs, Linda

Happy May Day to you.

We don't seem to celebrate May Day much in the UK but I think i need to introduce a touch of this with my friends.

Happy Mothers Day Linda,
I love your new header and boy the flowers are so pretty. Heidi has her wisteria on her blog also. I love it, but don't have any.
I never heard of the May day custom you did. Very neat idea though.

PS: Your print is easy to read now, thanks.

I have been out and about and read a lot of May day posts..... I never celebrated May day nor did anyone in my school or life at any age.. It really sounds like I have missed out somewhere and maybe I will give it a go next May day.........

How pretty your flowers are! I just love wisteria. I would love to continue the May day tradition, but with neighbors being far and few between the miles, I would get chased by a mean old farm dog for sure! {: Happy May day to you! blessings,Kathleen

Didn't grow up making May baskets but we did the May Day dance when I was in Elementary school. Each class wore one color. I think it was so pretty weaving in and out. Boys participated, also.
May has always been special to me. Both my Birthday and my Mother's are in May. I had a grandfather and an uncle with May Birthdays. Then we had reunions and decorations. I have three grandsons with May Birthdays.

Wisteria is one of my all time favorites. I love the scent of it too. Isn't it wonderful to see our old flower friends again?
