I just finish reading Runaway Quilt...and as always when I read books from this series I have the desire to get back to quilting...the above quilt is my first quilt. My good friend Sharon ( a truly gifted quilter) was my teacher....The quilt below is a WIP,
I'm reading The Quilter's Legacy now.....it is so good. Sylvia, the central character in the books I've read thus far, is searching for several of her mother's heirloom quilts. Her search is taking her from coast to coast with not just a bit of adventure mixed in. I don't want to give too much of the story away but there are flash backs to the 1800's that are bittersweet and just bring tears to my eyes. I'm not sure how this book will end...but I already have the next one.....

The Master Quilter. I have no idea what it's about, but it's sure to be good. This quilt is a WIP too. It a table top size and like the first WIP the top I machine pieced and had it quilted...all I need to do to both of them is put the binding on...but sadly my teacher has moved to Idaho..so I think I'll need to find a class. Lastly, I wanted to show you tomatoes from my little plants....

Your quilts are just beautiful. Heidi reads all of those books. I read some of them at her house but can't remember which ones.
Your stitched piece is great.
Have a fun evening.

Love your quilts and those books sound great - I have not heard of these before now. Thanks. I love the Halloween stitchery. Oh, your tomatoes make me hungry. We only had a few this year but stopped today to get some large, home-grown ones to slice and put on sandwiches. Hope your weekend is filled with fun.
Well, I spent the day standing in lines, getting my title changed and the tag. I went to the Post Office and stood in line again to mail the PIFs. I had a return for Walmart. Surprisingly there was no line there but I was back in line again to check out.
I stopped by and picked up barbeque pork for our dinner when Honey Bear gets home.
Yesterday, while we were out of town, I had Daughter stop at a store called Out of the Box. I wasn't sure it was still there since it had been several years since I'd been there. They have a long arm quilter which I wanted her to see plus an over abundance of Cross stitch patterns and material. We spent quite a while there. I bought a couple of patterns and some ada cloth. We also went to the fabric store there. It is huge. I bought some flannel for a rag quilt and some sheeting for backing. They have 90 inch wide sheeting in many colors for $3.98 a yard. Great for quilt backing.
Okay, this is becoming long so I'm going to say, happy weekend to you.

Oh, I forgot to tell you. This shop had a group meeting to stitch which included a gentleman. I didn't actually see him. Too busy looking for patterns but Daughter did. We both were envious of them being able to meet like that but neither one of us could imagine fitting it into our schedule.

You do such nice work on your quilts Mom, and the cross stitch is coming along nicely. You'll be done in no time. Tomatoes, Yummy!
Linda, thank you for such a lovely comment on my blog! :) I love your Kindred Spirits... Lisa is one of my most favorite designers, I love all of her stuff. Did you see the list on her blog of what she's coming out with at Market? S-W-O-O-N!! I can't wait.
I've read all of the Jennifer Chiaverini books but I missed this year's release if she had one when I was back home. I've never seen the books here in Ireland. Some of hers are better than others but they're always enjoyable.
Lovely tomatoes! I love tomatoes with a bit of salt sprinkled on them. YUMM. Have a great weekend!
I will have to look for those books Linda. They sound wonderful. I'm not sure what I'm making for dinner but pasta and salad sounds good!
Have you read Karen's blog, My Yellow Farmhouse? She does lots of quilting and other needlework. I think you might like her blog.

I'm terribly sorry it has taken so long to get here but I just have not been feeling well for a couple of weeks. I want to welcome you to the Totally Useless SAL, I do see that you've already put up a button so I hope you've already begun your Totally Useless Container, you certainly have some nice stitchy pieces to create it with. Love your blog...and I'll be back to read back further soon.
Darn, I never remember to put this in the first time, sorry. Could you e-mail me or leave a comment in my blog and give us a general physical location for you, we just like to know generaly where our Totally Useless Members are located.

Loving your kindred spirits, fun to do! Rachaelxo
Your quilts are beautiful and I LOVE the Halloween stichery item you're preparing - so whimsical.
It's been a bumper crop of tomatoes here - guess the abundance of rain and the right mix of hot and cool weather has helped. Yours look GREAT. :)
Oh I love reading her books .. definately some are better than others .. but I love Sylvia and all she's learning about her family. I also adore the Elm Creek ladies .. almost makes me want to learn to quilt! lol
lovely post. Those books sound great. I'll have to look them up. I just got one called "The Friday Night Knitters Club" A bit of Chick Lit for light reading in bed and about the lives of knitter friends. Love Pam
