Hi everyone. We are back, actually we've been back for a couple days...let me tell you about our trip. Grab something to drink and listen to my story. Remember, we were going to our little bit of heaven...beautiful Loon Lake. We were all packed up and left home bright and early on a lovely sunny day. We just breezed up Hwy 50 and stopped at the Safeway in Pollock Pines to pick up a few perishables and then continued on for about 20 miles to Ice House Road where you leave the main highway and climb right up the side of the mountain. It is a beautiful drive, curvy and just two lanes but well paved and we have travelled it at least sixty times since the mid seventies. Well, anyway, up we go and we hadn't gone more than 15 miles when our engine started to overheat and we had to pull over...let me tell you, we were just hanging on the edge of the mountain and I'm freaking out...but trying to stay calm at the same time. We sat there for about a half an hour and then limped along to a small turnout. By this time the engine is hot, hot, hot. Up goes the hood and now we know we need help.....several cars, a sheriff, two forest service trucks and a UPS truck just drove right on by.....I should say a couple people did wave. Where we were there is no cell service and Carl is getting ready to walk down the mountain to find cell service and call for a tow, when along came the nicest couple, Mike and Jan...I call them our angels. They drove Carl down about a mile and he called for the tow.....they'll be here in about 30 minutes...wait, wait, wait, after an hour had to go back and call again....we'll be there in 40 minutes actually they got to us about three hours later....I was so thankful the tow truck finally got there and for Mike and Jan who stayed with us the whole time, a total of 5 1/2hours. We were towed to Pollock Pines. Lily and I rode with the angels and Carl with the tow truck. We were........................
towed to AtoZ Automotive repairs, where we had major repairs done the next day. We spent 24hrs...........
parked in front of the wonderful Whispering Pines mobile home park and quality time was spent on the lovely blue sofa with the "free" sign. Lily was such a good girl, but..........
she was even wondering when we would be going home.........
Here we are just relaxing and watching the world go by.........
Carl's just kicking back too. We were talking and in all the years we have been RVing this is our first mishap......so I call that pretty lucky. Out of a bad situation we met two of the nicest people and have new friends. So I think that is pretty special....don't you. Hugs and warm regards to all....Linda

Believe it or not, I know a couple in MA whose names are Mike and Jan and I know for a fact, those two would have stopped for you!:-)
Sorry to hear you had problems on your trip! It sounds like a wonderful place to visit, Loon Lake.
Sorry you missed out on your weekend! Loon Lake sounds so familiar, was it a setting in a novel? Maybe you should drive down here and camp at the pool! One of our neighbors keeps an RV in his back yard as a guest house!
Oh Linda & Carl,
Sorry the weekend didn't go as planned ~ thank goodness for your angels.. (love the pictures!)

I just cannot believe a sheriff passed you right up. That is awful. Thank God for the two people who stopped and helped you. At least you made two new frinds out of a bad situation. Happy to hear you are now home safe.

Well, at least you had your home with you so to speak once you were at the blue couch. I mean the RV. Were you able to hook up to electric there. I'm anxious to hear what happened after the truck was repaired. Did you go on to the lake? And I am surprised that the people that passed,,especially the sheriff didn't offer to call for help. He should have been the one to help out. But God sent the angels and that was great.
I offered to help a young man in a the Bed, Bath, and Beyond parking lot the other day when it was so hot. He and his Mom had been in the store shopping for dorm things while I was there. He had his hood up when I came out and needed a jump start. He said he had cables so I said I would pull over to him. He was surprised that I offered but then his Mom who was apparently in another car and had left finally called him babk on her cell and was returning.
Let me know the rest of the story!

How wonderful....about your new friends I mean...its amazing how many people don't stop to help versus people who do.
I hope the rest of your vacation was glorious!
Hugs,
Robin
Oh Linda, what an ordeal! I'm so glad that those new friends stopped to help. What a nice unexpected placed for a free couch to be. hehe Happy to hear your back home safely!

Hi Linda!
What a blessing your 2 new friends were sent to help you! I'm so glad you were kept safe and had someone nice to spend the awful wait with. I always look at it from the angle that maybe God didn't want us to meet disaster of some sort down the road so he stops us and makes us wait so we dont get in worse trouble. He just had you in a "holding pattern" for a while!
Hugs, Sherry
Linda, I'm so sorry for your car trouble, but wow, isn't God good to bring those two "angels" to rescue you. There really are still wonderful people out there. I am so glad you got to meet them. Hugs, Kathi
I am so sorry to hear about all your troubles. That is so frustrating. We've been in similar situations. Don't you just love people who stop and help, it makes you realize how important it is for us to stop and help someone else.
Did you ever make up to Loon Lake and camp? I hope so. Is this the Loon Lake that is in Oregon?
Have a happy day!
Sharon
LOL, sorry Linda, but that was a cute story bittersweet actually, these things in life keep us in check, don't they! Hope your rest of the tripwent well! Hugs Diana L.
