~~ Orchids ~~

Look at the sweet orchids from Lisa, it's her birthday and she's buying me treats, too nice. Ooops I got sidetracked, anyway last weekend on her birthday get-awake she visited a beautiful nursery specializing in exotic plants....mainly orchids. There were so many to choose from, and she chose these three for me. The fellow helping her said they were easy to grow and I didn't even need a greenhouse. He explained about watering, indirect light, air circulation, feeding and even included a pamphlet for me to read...which I did...Sounds very straight forward...but I think I need help. Do any of you have orchids....any hints? I just finished watering these little pretties. This one is white with a purple center and it has lots of buds, very sweet......
I love this one. This one is yellow with purple in the center, with several buds too. Not to play favorites...I have to say I love them all. Can't have hurt feeling.....they are listening.
This plant has a very pretty white flower and the center is yellow with a hint of brown. Heavens, I don't even know the name for the different parts of the plant or flower. I think I'd better do some research. Please, please share with me any hints or suggestions on the care of these little treasures.

Have a nice weekend, talk soon. Hugs, Linda

Your orchids are lovely! I buy them at the store, bring them home. Watch them bloom - water them when needed. When the blooms fade, I wait for new ones...if it is more than a year, sad to say, I toss them....I know there is a way to make them bloom again..I just don't know how!

Oh what gorgeous orchids!! That's one flower I've never had so I'm afraid I can't help you on its care! lol I think the only time I've seen orchids around here is when WalMart carries them in their garden center...now you've got me wanting one, I'd forgotten just how beautiful they are!! xox

Linda, the orchids are wonderful. Love the pink one. I have not a clue how to grow them. My hubby's aunt grew orchids for years and hers thrived outside under a shady patio. I think they need food once in awhile.

hugs to you,
Becky

Wish I could help in the plant department, but I kill all house plants. I don't even think Home Depot or Lowes would hire me.

But I envey those who have such pretties.

Hello Linda, Your Orchids are beautiful, they are at the top of my flowers I love, I have one, and it is still alive I am waiting for it to bloom again, nothing yet, I do know this about them,,,,,,,,, they need indirect morning light, nothing direct, no hot sun, they need to be fed once a month at least, and fed from the bottom, i put my orchid pot in a bogger pot with a rock in it so it doesn't sit on the bottom, and I put a little water in it so the roots can stay moist and then I mist it once or twice a week! hope that helps! Hi Linda! Ooh I love your orchids. They are such beautiful flowers! I've never grown one, but my mom has. She just makes sure she doesn't over water the plant. Letting the soil almost dry between watering. She also keep the plant in a central area in her house out of direct sunlight, but a light area away from a drafty window. I know once the blooms are done, it can take a really long time for the plant to bloom again, but it will. Enjoy yours, they are so pretty!

They're beautiful! I always thought they were temperamental, so I've never attempted them. Good luck!

Hi Linda, I just purchased my first 2 orchids a few months ago and they are both still in bloom. I am just learning how to take care of them. The information diana lyn gave is the same as I have been told. Also I was told that the roots need to be in a pot large enough to allow air circulation. Good luck with your beautiful orchids.

I have one orchid, the blooms all fell off a long time ago. I am however getting more leaves on it so I wait in hope that another spike of blossoms will appear.

God bless.
