~ A New Recipe ~
Earlier today I tried a new recipe....Chocolate zucchini bread, yum.
This recipe is from the food section of our local newspaper. If you'd like to try it, just click on the picture for the ingredients and directions.
Gather all your ingredients...the sugar, flour, baking powder, soda and salt are already measured and in my new batter bowl. Can you see it? It's from my honey, for my birthday, I love it....it's Jadeite by FireKing, he found it at the Folsom Market and do you see the little measuring spoons? Those were a surprise from his flea market jaunt this morning......
I have a fun collection of heart shaped measuring spoons and these are a neat addition. Each set is different...can you read what these say? The tablespoon~A heap of love, ~ teaspoon~A spoonful of affection, ~ 1/2 tsp~ A dash of tenderness, ~ 1/4 tsp~ A pinch of joy...I like these sentiments. Back to the recipe, finish mixing the dry ingredients, zucchini, coca, and wet ingredients. Put in a greased loaf pan and bake...remember, for the recipe and all the steps click on the recipe.

~~ Totally Useless SAL ~~
Hi everyone....I joined the Totally Useless SAL. The idea behind this SAL is so fun! All you do is keep all your little bits and pieces of your stitching thread from projects you are working on...instead of tossing it, save it . These little pieces are called ORTS...... Find a fun little container, dish, jelly jar, vase, whatever strikes your fancy and put your threads in it.
Here is my Ort container...I've been collecting these little threads for about a week or so...this should be a new collection. Each month, when there is the new moon it's time to show your Orts......for more information visit Yoyo and sign up. Hugs, Linda
Note....SAL means ....stitch a long....a group working on the same project
Ort......the dictionary says an ort is a small fragment or morsel left behind

~ A Little This And That ~
It seems my week has flown by. Along with the normal day to day activities, my days have been filled with a little of this and that. Wednesday was our SAL and Kindred Spirits by The Primitive Needle is coming to life, we all are loving this Halloween stitch. I'm getting ready to stitch the centers with this yummy orange in just a few minutes. Did you get your JCS magazine????
There is a wonderful feature article in it about P N's designer, Lisa Roswell and a darling Halloween freebie from her, "Halloween Revelry "...cute, cute, cute. Besides stitching I've been reading too....
I just finish reading Runaway Quilt...and as always when I read books from this series I have the desire to get back to quilting...the above quilt is my first quilt. My good friend Sharon ( a truly gifted quilter) was my teacher....The quilt below is a WIP,

I'm reading The Quilter's Legacy now.....it is so good. Sylvia, the central character in the books I've read thus far, is searching for several of her mother's heirloom quilts. Her search is taking her from coast to coast with not just a bit of adventure mixed in. I don't want to give too much of the story away but there are flash backs to the 1800's that are bittersweet and just bring tears to my eyes. I'm not sure how this book will end...but I already have the next one.....
The Master Quilter. I have no idea what it's about, but it's sure to be good. This quilt is a WIP too. It a table top size and like the first WIP the top I machine pieced and had it quilted...all I need to do to both of them is put the binding on...but sadly my teacher has moved to Idaho..so I think I'll need to find a class. Lastly, I wanted to show you tomatoes from my little plants....

~ Little Pink House Is Finished ~
I'm so happy! I just finished stitching the Little Pink House.......
by The Prairie Schooler. It is such a sweet stitch, rather than frame it I just put it in a little tuck pillow and I really like the way it turned out. The model was stitched on 14 ct. White Aida using DMC floss. I stitched mine on 14 ct Adia too, but I used a blush pink and DMC #3716 for my pink. I'm especially pleased the proceeds from the sale of this chart benefit the cause to find a cure for breast cancer.....this is so worthwhile.
When I went to the mailbox this evening I got the best surprise. I have been waiting and waiting for the Halloween edition of Just Cross Stitch. I haven't even peeked at it....

~ Weekend Peddlers Faire ~
This months Peddlers Fair was lots of fun, we were there bright and early and we both found some little treasures. Carl collects fish and melon knifes and found three for his collection and I found this restaurant creamer for my little collection. How neat to have cream served in these little cuties in days gone by. I love.....
kitchenella and have a new heart to add to my cookie cutters, plus I found this fun measuring cup. It's a 3/4 cup size with a little arm, when you measure something sticky like shortening or peanut butter you just spin this little arm around and it helps with getting it out of the cup...pretty neat and talk about neat......
turn her around she has a little opening where you can tuck flowers, a tiny little plant or a small piece of ivy......pretty cool. I also found some pillowslips with pretty embroidery work and crocheted edges...I'm in the middle of ironing them so I'll share them later or maybe put them on my sidebar. Have a nice day...it's back to ironing for me...hugs, Linda

~ I Was The Lucky Winner ~
This is Peddler Faire weekend and I'm so looking forward to it. Whether I find something or not it's just fun to poke around, but if I do find a treasure, look at my new tote bag I'll be using...
It is so pretty and I just love it. Lynn at The Vintage Nest was having a give away and I was the lucky winner. Not only is there the roomy tote bag but a thermal bag too.....it is the neatest. I also had a sweet surprise, Lynn tucked in a copy of Romantic Homes, what a dreamy magazine ...I loved it. Look how ......
pretty everything was wrapped. Did yon notice the pink ribbon? It's embossed with her blog name....now that's is so cool. If you've never visited Lynn, I hope you drop by and say hi, she has a lovely blog and I know you would enjoy your visit. I just had to ....
show you this. I just got my Little Pink House Of Love, it is the sweetest and I'm stitching on blush pink and a light blue . This stitch is by The Prairie Schooler with proceeds from it's sale benefiting the fight of breast cancer....a cause near and dear to me. Is anyone else going to stitch this...I sure hope so....have a happy weekend...hugs, Linda

~ A Celebration and Stitch Night ~
Yesterday we celebrated two more "J-Girl" birthdays.....
Susan's, far left and Marcia's, third from the left. We had lunch at The Macaroni Grill....so good. What was really neat is our waiter sang Happy Birthday in Italian to them, it was so pretty and they each received a beautiful white Gladiola to celebrate their special day...wait, wait, I'm not done yet. Do you see the wonderful brownie with the candle? They each got that bit of heaven and like good friends they shared with us.....delish. It was a happy celebration and a nice afternoon with friends. Then before I knew it was time for our SAL. We are stitching Kindred Spirits by...
The Primitive Needle. I love everything about this stitch...it has a sweet sentiment and it is so putting me in the mood for Fall and Halloween, plus it's my first time to use silk flosses and I love them. I just noticed when I set my needle and thread down I made a heart...yes, no,what do you think? Hugs, Linda

~ Oh Happy Days ~
I'm so happy...I just finished stitching Patriotic Sampler.
I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. For stitching I used Wavy Navy by Crescent Colours, I really like the subtle shading affect you get when you stitch with the blended flosses. I know my
birthday was a few days ago but I just had to share last night with you. To celebrate my birthday Rob and Michelle ( I'm A Little Teapot) invited us out to dinner...my choice of restaurants. We went to the Elephant Bar....it is a great place and has the most wonderful food. What a happy evening, good food, good times with good friends...can't get much better than that. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend too, hugs, Linda
