~~Dinner With Friends~~

Good morning and happy Friday. Last night we had dinner with Jan and Mike, our angels and new friends. They are the sweetest couple who came to our aid when we had our major break down on our trip to Loon Lake...you can read about this experience on my August 18th post. They were out collecting elderberries when they happened on us...and look what they brought us last night..................
Elderberry Jelly. Mike made this and we can hardly wait to enjoy it. I was going to make pancakes this morning but got a late start so we had toast instead...........
This looks so yummy........what do you think honey?
He likes it.....thumbs up is a good sign......I have to tell you I had.......
peanut butter and jelly toast and it was delish. Tomorrow pancakes, and you know what...this would be delicious as a topping on vanilla ice cream.

Have a great weekend and if you are traveling be safe....hugs, Linda

~~ Fob Mania ~~

Sunday we went to our little weekly flea market....it is really junkie but sometimes you find a little something. I was just looking around and spotted a whole box of costume jewelry on one of the sellers table....generally I just pass this kind of stuff up but this time I thought I'd take a look see. I know lots of people buy jewelry, take it apart and reuse.... and I thought, why not. I found four pieces for my bead stash......cleaned them up a bit and separated just the peach and cream necklace out. Then today I played.............. I made the two fobs on the left using the pearls, plus beads and charms I already had. The other three fobs I used beads from my stash. Lisa chose the shorter Halloween fob and I'm keeping the other one and the Christmas one for myself. I also had fun making some for gifts, but my lips are sealed. This is the....................
first fob I made about three years ago. At that time I had just the one pair of scissors but now I have a small collection started...I've received some as gifts and purchased a couple from stitchie stores I visited while on vacation.
I saw these sweet little green scissors and froggie on Tina's blog. She was having a celebration give away and I just thought they were the cutest. I e-mailed her, found out where to order the charm and scissors and made this fob.....I love it.

Now I'm hooked on making fobs.....I think it would be fun to have holiday ones, ones with charms of things that interest you, fobs that compliment the project you are stitching and on and on. I'm thinking cell phone fobs, purse fobs, key fobs...wow lots of things.

I hope you catch fob fever....... it's fun! Have a great day.....see you soon....hugs, Linda

~Birthday Treasures From Priscilla~

Look what I got in the mail this week, a birthday treasure box from my dear friend Priscilla, who lives in England. When I opened the box, it was filled with the prettiest lemon tissue and several small packages wrapped in tissue....
Isn't that the cutest cupcake tag, and look........
at this darling birthday card she made, even the envelope is decorated.
Priscilla knows I love tea and all my treasures had a tea theme...I think that is so cool. The first package I opened was the chocolates...yes, I had to have one right then and there, Mmmmm delish, then there was yummy shortbread cookies, a beautiful tea mug, a recipe book filled with the most delicious treats and a package of Summer fruit tea. I have to tell you this is one of the nicest teas I've ever had. It's a blend of several fruits, hibiscus and rosehip, slightly sweet, I can really taste the cherries....just wonderful . When it's steeped it is the prettiest shade of pink. Wait, there's more.......look at this......
darling stitch. Little House Needleworks is one of my favorite designers and isn't the " Chocolate Shoppe" just perfect. I love it and the floss colors are just gorgeous...this is going to be a fun stitch and I can hardly wait to start it. Priscilla, from the bottom of my heart I thank you...who knew from a little bag of candy corn I would meet such a lovely person...I am happy to call you my friend. Hugs to you and your family...with the warmest regards, Linda

~~Last Night We Stitched~~

Good Morning everyone...it's a beautiful sunny morning not too hot just perfect. I'm getting ready to have a late breakfast on the porch and just watch the world go by. But first let me show you........... my stitchie. Last night was our stitch get together.....it is so neat to stitch with Lisa and Michelle. We are working on the stars and then on to the sentiment, which is a favorite of mine. I'm just loving the colors in this piece and it is really putting me in the mood for Autumn. Is anyone else ready for a change of season?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for the kind comments concerning our trip to the lake. I know some were wondering where the lake is. Well, it's a beautiful spot in northern California...92 miles from the capital city of Sacramento. After the repairs to the truck, did we head back to the lake? No, we were just ready to come home and did...but the good news is we are planning another trip for sometime in October.
Swampgirl, you are right there is a mystery series that is centered around a Loon Lake. I read the stories but for the life of me I can't think of the author or any of the titles. I do remember they were easy reads and I did enjoy them.
Off to have my breakfast....have a lovely day.....hugs, Linda
~We Missed Our Bit Of Heaven~
Hi everyone. We are back, actually we've been back for a couple days...let me tell you about our trip. Grab something to drink and listen to my story. Remember, we were going to our little bit of heaven...beautiful Loon Lake. We were all packed up and left home bright and early on a lovely sunny day. We just breezed up Hwy 50 and stopped at the Safeway in Pollock Pines to pick up a few perishables and then continued on for about 20 miles to Ice House Road where you leave the main highway and climb right up the side of the mountain. It is a beautiful drive, curvy and just two lanes but well paved and we have travelled it at least sixty times since the mid seventies. Well, anyway, up we go and we hadn't gone more than 15 miles when our engine started to overheat and we had to pull over...let me tell you, we were just hanging on the edge of the mountain and I'm freaking out...but trying to stay calm at the same time. We sat there for about a half an hour and then limped along to a small turnout. By this time the engine is hot, hot, hot. Up goes the hood and now we know we need help.....several cars, a sheriff, two forest service trucks and a UPS truck just drove right on by.....I should say a couple people did wave. Where we were there is no cell service and Carl is getting ready to walk down the mountain to find cell service and call for a tow, when along came the nicest couple, Mike and Jan...I call them our angels. They drove Carl down about a mile and he called for the tow.....they'll be here in about 30 minutes...wait, wait, wait, after an hour had to go back and call again....we'll be there in 40 minutes actually they got to us about three hours later....I was so thankful the tow truck finally got there and for Mike and Jan who stayed with us the whole time, a total of 5 1/2hours. We were towed to Pollock Pines. Lily and I rode with the angels and Carl with the tow truck. We were........................
towed to AtoZ Automotive repairs, where we had major repairs done the next day. We spent 24hrs...........
parked in front of the wonderful Whispering Pines mobile home park and quality time was spent on the lovely blue sofa with the "free" sign. Lily was such a good girl, but..........
she was even wondering when we would be going home.........
Here we are just relaxing and watching the world go by.........
Carl's just kicking back too. We were talking and in all the years we have been RVing this is our first mishap......so I call that pretty lucky. Out of a bad situation we met two of the nicest people and have new friends. So I think that is pretty special....don't you. Hugs and warm regards to all....Linda
~Busy~Busy~Busy~
Hi everyone. Look at my beautiful storage shed...well, I think it looks wonderful...you should have seen it last Tuesday. We decided to have a garage sale this past Saturday. I worked three days organizing, de-cluttering and getting ready for the sale. I'm so happy to get some space to be able to turn around and move seasonal things in and out. Carl..........................
worked on this unit. It has fun things, our bikes camping gear and even has some room left for yard equipment.
I just have these few crates to inventory and then I'm finished. I'll put them in my shed and still have turn around room. What a job, but it feels great to get so much accomplished. Our Saturday sale was fun...we sold lots of treasures, gave some things away and the rest went to Goodwill this morning. I'm so happy to get rid of so much "stuff".
Don't laugh when I tell you on Sunday we went to the second Sunday WX Peddlers Faire. I just bought a few things, really. I love doilies and these were so colorful I couldn't pass them up. This little silhouette reminds me of Thanksgiving....
and I plan to just set it out during November. Lisa......
loves purple and I found these pretties for her. The embroidery work is so lovely and the pillow slip in the front with the little crocheted edge I think is especially nice. Whenever I buy hand worked pieces, I wonder who made them, did they make them for someone special....why are they being sold at a street faire.......all I can tell you I love these pieces and so does my daughter...we think they are treasures to love and enjoy.
Have a happy day...I'll be stopping by....until then...hugs, Linda
~The Weekend and Friday~
Good morning...it's Monday already. Did your weekend fly by as quickly as mine? I guess when you are busy and having a good time...time does fly.
Saturday we went to a fun garage sale Mr. and Mrs. I'm A Little Teapot was having, and found some neat treasures. I found the cutest shelf for my kitchen and painted it yesterday along with another little kitchen shelf I already had...as soon as I get them up I'll show you. On Sunday we mainly just puttered, watched NASCAR, had a bar-b-que....plus I did do some stitching
Friday afternoon, Lisa and I went to lunch and did a little fun shopping. When I got home the mailman had delivered a package for me. I'd recently purchased a pretty hand mirror on Flea Market Friday from Michelle at Back Through Time and it was waiting for me when I got home. Let me show you........
I love it! I put it on a small dresser and it looks perfect . Michelle has a great blog, neat items for sale on FMF, plus wonderful creations in her Esty Shop. Besides this lovely mirror she surprised me with.........
Birthday presents. There were three packages wrapped in the sweetest tissue in this hot pink bag and the nicest card. One package had these three little birdies. They are little guys, hand painted with the prettiest colors....
I adore birds....these are so precious and have found a happy home in this little nest.
This darling needle cushion was in the second package. It is filled with Rosemary and sharpens your needle when you use the cushion. It has a nice light fragrance and isn't the button the cutest. It's going right in with my stitchie things. Next package was actually a small box with two treasures...............
that I adore. The queen charm is one Michelle made. Her sister is teaching her how to solder and make these pretties...it's gorgeous and I love it. I collect crowns, and love hearts and every once in awhile some one calls me "The Queen". I've always wanted a name pin and this is so cool....thank you so much I will enjoy these and always think of you. Oops, I almost forgot...she also gave the cutest notebook and pen, they are already in my purse. Thank you dear friend.
Well, the garden is calling me...I have weeding and trimming to do before the day turns too hot. "Toodleloo" and hugs, to all, Linda
