~~ Sun Tea Time ~~

Oh my goodness it's hot! Yesterday it was 107 and today 109 is predicted. Now that is hot, hot, hot......mighty toasty. Tracie @ My Petite Maison enjoys a refreshing Perrier with lime, to keep cool, doesn't that sounds delish, but for me my go to beverage is Sun Tea. I love it and it is easy to make and energy friendly. Have you made it before? Here is how I do my tea. Today I'm using trusty Lipton tea, but flavored teas are nice too. Fill a large jar or pitcher with cold water. Add 5 or 6 tea bags depending on the container size.....this is a 2qt. mason jar and I used 5 tea bags. Cover jar opening.
Set the container in the sun and let the sun go to work.
I just keep as eye on my container and when I think the tea looks strong enough, I call it done.
Most of the time I'll make a huge pitcher of tea, adding water and ice but today I just ....
filled glasses with ice and added the tea...oh, so good. If you like add sugar and a slice of lemon. I'll be making more tea tomorrow, if you are out my way stop by, cool off and have a glass of Sun Tea with me.

Carl reads my blog and lots of yours too. I surprised him when I did his birthday post.... he really liked it and I know he enjoyed your comments. He sends a thank you to each of you and so do I. And yes, I would love to have that sweet little wagon he's riding in. See you all later... hugs, Linda

Sun tea is very good, we make it sometimes too. It is not nearly as hot here as you have it. It is only suppose to get to the 80's today. I can live with that.
Wish I could join you for tea. Have a great day.

Hi Linda. Thanks so much for visiting my garden while we were on vacation.
I have never made sun tea but after reading your post I think I'll give it a try.
Hopefully by now your heat wave is over and things a bit more comfortable there. It's been hot here too, but not as hot as what you have there.

I'll be right over!!! I made a strawberry pie this afternoon so I think the iced tea and a slice of pie would go very well together, don't you? hehe I love iced tea but I like mine sweetened and with a slice of lemon in it...it's the first time I hear of putting it in the sun, though, that's so interesting! xoxo

There is nothing better than a glas of sweet tea on a hot summer day. I come from the midwest and do the boiled tea business. When I visit my relatives in Georgia they always have two pitchers of tea at all times. "Ya'll want sweet tea or regular tea?"

We're certainly tired of the heat down here, also. The worse part is the air quality. It's just awful. I haven't seen blue skies for days.

Stay inside and stay safe.

Hi Linda, your tea looks very refreshing! What a good idea to sit it in the sun....I do love ice tea, nothing better on a hot day, although I am not seeing many here in the uk! Nothing but thunder and rain! But i can still enjoy tea!

Thanks for sharing this linda, lovely post........

Oh yeah, I'll take a glass of that. I love unsweetened ice tea...... so, so, refreshing!

I think it's hot hear when it hits 90. I'm not sure I'd go anywhere if it was in the 100"s. Take care and stay in the air conditioning!

Hi Linda,
Sun tea sounds great and a very nice treat in the terrible heat. Each day, I was thinking "it can't get any hotter". As you know, I was wrong big time.
I love the containers you used too, such a pretty color, I bet it really picks up the heat nicely.
I'm going to give this a try, I've got to go out and pick up some kind of container though... hmmm, I'll put my thinking cap on and look around this weekend.
Have a blast at the antique show, sounds like fun, fun, fun. Hey Carl - hi to you too.
Happy Days!

I am glad I don't live there!! We did live in Oklahoma for a while--and we lived there the summer it was over 100 degrees for something like 60 days straight. There were some warnings for making Sun Tea a while ago so you might want to google it and see what comes up. We do drink lots of iced tea here in SC!

I haven't made sun tea in years! Of course around here it wouldn't take it long to BOIL!

Thanks so much for your comments on my flowers and house. Just in case you couldn't tell, blue and yellow are my favorite colors! Something about a yellow house always captures my attention - I just think they look 'friendly'!

Thanks so much for stopping by and for leaving comments!

Hi Linda

I haven't made sun tea in a long time!

We have a Mr Coffee tea maker. J makes a big pitcher, every morning. I love unsweetened tea with lemon. Really quenches my thirst.

I've been visiting today. Enjoyed my visit here, very much!
I'm having a 200th post giveaway. If you have a minute, come on by the back porch.

Have a wonderful week.

I haven't been drinking iced tea much these last few years but I'd sure like to stop by and share a glass with you. Upstairs, I have a gallon jug with a yellow pour spout top which says, Sun Tea. I used to make tea in it all the time. Maybe I'll do that one day this week.
My son and his family had the movers coming in yesterday and today. Please say a little prayer for them as they move across the country.

Sun tea is the best. I am now making up to 1 to 2 gallons a day. I even bring my tea into work with me. Try this one, add cutup strawberries to taste and let steep in the sun. DELICIOUS. I always enjoy reading your blog.
