Good morning everyone....it so pretty out. I just came in from watering and picking a few roses and started to put the roses in one of my favorite vases, when I spotted this in the cabinet. Do you know what it is? It's the base to an old oil lamp....I'm going to repurpose it. Repurpose, I just love that word. Repurpose~to use or convert for use in another format or product~. I'm using the lamp base in another format....a vase.....
I think this looks pretty neat.....the roses are my favorite...Secret. Did you notice the little reminder note in the first picture? Nothing to do with repurposing but a neat idea from Sharon@ Rose of Sharon. Rather then a small sticky note for reminders she uses cute little papers. I made one for candles. When I light candles I put this little note on the dinning room table, when I'm not burning candles I keep it on my refrig.....this is a good idea.
I love repurposing and always thought this was a new idea...but it's not. My little bedside lamp was in my dad's family and I have had it for over 30 years and it's repurposed. The glass is from an old ceiling fixture. My dad painted the inside, you can even see where the paint is wearing away and then he wired it for a lamp.....
Before it was mine my parents used it for a small table lamp...but I love it in my bedroom.
Here is another repurposing idea. You know I like to use old flower frogs to hold pictures and cards, but I like using old brushes too. I collect celluloid and these brushes are in my bedroom...I thought they needed something so I stuck some pictures in them....I think this is better.
What have you repurposed? Look at things with a new eye and see what you come up with.......have fun. Hugs, Linda

hi linda!
cookie pops are just that lol
any cookie recipe that cools semi crisp will work, i think. make nice big cookies, and as soon as they come from the oven, slide popsicle sticks about halfway thru them! easy as pie and the kids LOVE 'em!
i think i'll blog the recipe for hummingbird muffins a bit later, so check back when you're able!
Linda, you have shared some great ideas here. I am feeling inspired to do something with some light fixtures that we have stored away.
Congratulations to you and your husband on your 46 years of marriage. I love the wedding pictures you shared with us. Wishing you many many more years of love together.
Linda, the lamp base is a wonderful idea to use as a vase. It looks like a rose bowl! Beautiful roses!

Hi Linda
What a great idea!
Happy belated Birthday to your sweet Lily & Happy 46th Anniversary - what a beautiful picture!
Have a great weekend.
Repurpose most definitely is a fabulous word and a really fun thing to do. I love what you did!...Kathy@ Mimi's Garden
Beautiful! I love putting flowers in anything that isn't a vase. My favorite so far has been a teapot.
Hi Linda:
I like your idea. I probably have a lot of things I could do this with. I really want to recover my lampshades one of these days. I have done it before, but I saw some done really well in a shop and thought, oh I can do that. Not quite the same thing, but still using something I have.
I love all your repurposed treasures. You know, I think our parents' generation was better at finding a new life for an old item. We grew up with throwing things away and buying new, sadly.
I think your oil lamp vase is lovely and your roses are so beautiful.
Have a great weekend.
I enjoyed seeing the things you have repurposed. I new what the flower vase was right away. What a neat idea.

Oh my goodness....great idea on the old brushes! I love it!!! I will have to borrow your idea! Hey, I'm glad that you could use my idea about the reminder notes! Thank you for giving me the credit for the idea too!!! :0) Your home is so pretty and I love the repurposeing with the oil lamp that is now a vase! Very clever!
Hugs, Sharon
What great ideas! I love using the brush to hold a picture!
I repurpose plates for mosaics :-)
Have a great weekend!

What a great idea Linda, to repurpose things. You have some good things going there. I love all of your roses and vases.
Kathi
Love that idea Linda. I have an oil lamp base that I'm going to try that with! Your bedside lamp is so pretty..
Michelle
What a GREAT idea with the brushes!! You are just too clever! I love finding an alternate use for things too....especially if they are too visually appealing to pass up!! I love your display...the glass looks so pretty!
Have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Robin
Oh my goodness...I've been so out of touch with my blog friends. And I missed your anniversary. I know it was happy...but belated best wishes to you and your hubby. What a beautiful bride you were...love your wedding dress. And the sweet egg...such a wonderful keepsake.
I'll have to think about something I've "repurposed". What a great post. Your roses are beautiful as is your new header...so pretty.
Hugs, Andi
Oh, those are great ideas! I just might have to borrow the picture holding brushes idea for the shop. And just the other day, when I needed some balance and height, I went to the back and brought out the body of a lamp and stuck some flowers in the hole! Are we brilliant or what? LOL
I'm like you, I love to repurpose. That's one of my favorite things to do, but I've been up for 16 hours after not so much sleep last night and can't think of a single thing I've done. Other than the lamp with flowers.
Wonderful ideas! I love the pretty lamp and your beautiful roses.
~Kelli
I love all your repurposing, expecially the lamp for a vase and the brushes to hold photos. I have some lamp parts in the closet that I plan to repurpose in some way. Thank you for the inspiration! Your banner looks beautiful BTW!

Hi Linda, I use old flower frogs like you do but never thought of using brushes to hold photos. Great idea! And I think your roses look stunning in that lamp. ~ Lynn
Good Evening Linda,
"HAPPY BELATED 46th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY". I know what you mean by it seems like yesterday you got married. Time does really fly by. I love the idea of the oil base. It makes a beautiful vase. I love how you made those brushes into holding pictures. I would never have thought of doing something like that. I don't guess I have repurposed anything around here. Not yet anyway. Maybe someday I will tho. I love your new banner as well. I have noticed that alot of ladies have redone their headers. After I had posted last Wednesday, I didn't get to visit anyone. I did put up as new post this morning and even some pictures. I have been trying to catch up with everyone today. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
Great, great ideas. Love the old lamp fixture idea. Might have to steal that one from you.
LOL

Thanks for stopping by and taking a tour around my yard... Mom is having so much fun with her new garden.... We moved them out here a year ago for me to take care of.. she is doing so much better...
have a great week
Just loved the oil lamp and your roses! I have a friend who, instead of using colanders for draining veggies or pasta, is planting strawberries and flowers in them. So pretty! Blessings, Kathleen
Hi, I just love to repurpose things. I have a whole category on my blog for them. Great ideas...thanks for sharing them. Cheers...Pam
