Ever since I was a young girl, really a child I've loved the Calla Lily. Last year my floral friend gave me a few of the bulbs and so far this is my only bloom...but I do see two more buds coming along. I wanted to pick this beauty for the longest time and finally did on Saturday. The weather was rainy and it did get a little bruised so I knew it was time to rescue it. When I was little I loved to run my fingers over the little yellow center cone and all the powder would come off on my fingers.....oh, my Grandma use to to get so upset with me.....but I just couldn't help myself. Now I know better.
I think this is one of the most lovely flowers....I put it in a favorite piece of moonstone and set it on the dining room table on the most lovely table runner. This runner was a Christmas gift from my friend Michelle at I'm A Little Tea Pot and I love it. Let me show you the beautiful embroidery...
Look at the wonderful Calla Lillie's, pretty, pretty, pretty. There was a little tag on the back and look what it says........
It says..... for my birthday and on the other side it says.....
The date, 2-8-79......from and by Brenda DeJager. What a precious gift......I know I will take loving care of it, enjoy and treasure it always.

I love those flowers, too. Mom grew them in her garden at each home we lived at.

That is such a pretty flower. My GD Mandie loves them too. Your embroidered cloth is really a great gift for you.
Linda,
Beautiful flower....Calla lilies aren't grown in our area....but if I can find bulbs I'll give them a try....the table runner is gorgeous....
Thanks for dropping in to visit with me...I think the 86 years old is pretty smart.....Betty
Hello my friend... this flower is beautiful!! Funny, how something will come back to you... this past week, while I was in Cali, I was walking through a field that had sticker type grass. I remembered that you can pull on the stem in a certain way to gather the stickers in your hand. Then, you can throw them at someone. Nice, huh? Love, Esther

Linda, Calla's are beautiful lilies and one of these days I am going to try to grow some.
I do grow Asiatic lilies so these would look lovely mixed in with them.
God bless.

Oh I love those flowers,,, I have a large flower arrangement in my bedroom of calla Lilies...... I guess I need to plant some.......
Calla Lillies are one of my favorites flowers too! They are just gorgeous. I think they are really pretty for weddings too. What a perfect table running to go with it! I all looks so pretty.

Love Calla Lilies in the garden, they are such a good space filler and lovely to look at:) Rachael
Your flower is so lovely- I have never seen one growing -so Alabama must not be the place for them. It looks so pretty in your moonstone with the runner and postcards! I love to wonder about the woman who spent her time doing the embroidery!
I love calla's too Linda. I think they are so elegant. But I only have a few planted.
Calla lilies have such a regal look. No wonder so many brides have them in there bouquets. I grew some in a large urn last summer and was very pleased with how well they did.
Love the quote you used today.
Good Evening Linda,
Your Calla Lily is just beautiful. I love how you have it on your table with the table runner that Michelle sent you. The table runner is just beautiful with the Calla Lillies on them. I have always loved the Calla Lily myself. I have always called them Peace Lillies. That is what I have heard several Women around here call them as well. I am going to ask my Landlord if I can plant some flowers here in front of my house. I have a perfect spot for some flowers and I do want to plant some. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
What a fantastic piece of embroidery! And so unusual, I dont think I have ever seen another calla lily design like that. Usuall its roses and such. Very cool to get one when you love the flowers so much:>)
Your calla lilies are so pretty, and what a precious gift the table runner is. I love the needle work.
Beautiful flower! Once I saw in a tea magazine where chicken salad (or something) was served inside the calla lillies! Very unique, not sure if it is healthy, but surely they checked it out!!
The embroidery is lovely too.
I enjoyed your blog!
Katherine
