~~Bodega Bay Get-Away~~

Hi everyone. No wonder I'm having blog withdrawals, I haven't visited or posted since last Wednesday. I was planning to say hi on Thursday and tell you about our get-away planned for the weekend but I just got behind...but I'm back and looking forward to catching up with everyone. Friday afternoon we finished loading our trailer and headed to Bodega Bay, with our friends and their two dogs......Lily was so excited about this trip too because she was going to have pals to go on walks with. When we arrived the weather was sunny with a slight breeze. Later on into the afternoon the fog did roll in(love it)and it got a little windy but that didn't slow us down at all. Here are our friends Rob and Michelle.
Yay! Thumbs up and a hi, hi we are here. Now to set up camp and get a fire going. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures of our camp and our meals...but let me tell you camp was great and we ate like kings and queens. Just to give you an idea...Friday night we had spaghetti, homemade tamales, salad and for dessert berry pie ala mode....delish. Breakfast Saturday was a yummy ham and bacon egg bake plus french toast. Mmmmm, everything tasted so good...I don't know if it was the sea air or our chefs but I have to say we ate like little piglets. After breakfast we took off and poked around the little town of Bodega. Do you remember the movie The Birds? Well, part of it was shot here. We saw the old white church that was in the movie and visited some antique shops. I bought a purple hanky for my daughter and that was it. From there we went back to Bodega Bay and over to the marina area. There is a pier there and the guys talked about fishing and crabbing...but that will probably be on the next trip.
While the guys checked out the pier, Michell and I walked along the beach picking up shells and look what Michelle found...........
A heart! It's a piece from a clam shell. We're thinking a bird broke into it or it was tossed around in the water, too amazing...whatever I love it. I guess it was my lucky day, look what I found..........
This little heart shaped rock...two finds in one day...perfect.

After checking out the pier and beach we headed back to camp, the guys took naps and we watched TV and stitched. I tell you we had all the comforts of home.

Dinner Saturday was fabulous. Steaks, hamburger with all the extras and macaroni salad......everything was so good. After dinner we enjoyed the campfire and of course we had smores. We finished the evening having brownies ala mode in the RV.......I told you we ate like little piggies.

Time just flew and before we knew it, it was Sunday and time to pack up and head home. We sure had a great time and I know we'll be going back again. Love to get- away but there is no place like home. Hugs, Linda

Good Morning Linda,
Well I have been dropping by every once in a while and noticed you hadn't posted. I was wondering about you and thinking of you. I'm so glad you got to go on a Get-Away. Bodega Bay sounds like a wonderful place to visit. The pictures of the Marina is just breathtaking. "THANK YOU" for sharing it with us. The food yall ate has made me so hungry. LOL. It all sounds so yummy. We used to go camping years ago when I was a little girl. The food tasted so much better when you would go camping. One of my Uncles and his wife would always go with us and my Uncle would always have what he called "Cowboy Coffee" every morning. It always smelled so good. It's been a few years since I have been camping. Me, my DH and our girls went camping about 2 years ago and we borrowed a tent. It was in the Summer time and it was hot and we didn't have a fan. We did stay one night there and the next night around midnight, the girls were so miserable and we finally loaded everything up and came home. LOL. We haven't been back since. I told my DH that the next time we went, we were either going to carry a fan or borrow a trailer. LOL. And it's like you said, it's always nice to get away, but there is NO PLACE LIKE HOME!!!! AMEN on that. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Hi Linda, your trip sounds amazing and so relaxing, I enjoyed viewing the pictures and I am fasinated with the camper vans, Oh, how nice to go away and just enjoy life. I used to go camping as a child with my grandparents which I also enjoyed cooking outdoors and viewing the sights. speaking of, your food sounds tasty! and I swear it always tastes better in the fresh sea air! But I am wondering what are smores? My dad drives a truck for a living and he has always said it would be great to get a camper and take ourselves away, Its something I hope in the future we do. I am so pleased you found those natural hearts to add to your collection....such a nice find
Best wishes to you and your family

Thanks for coming by to see me, Linda.
I am still better than this weekend and yesterday. I took a little snooze when I got home today. I got up way too early this morning. Bible study went well. We are doing one on the Tabernacle which I have done before, no stress there. We spent our small group time getting acquainted. After, Patty and I had lunch at a bakery/deli and then parted. I went by and bought a few things but it was snowing pretty heavy so I didn't linger to buy more. It was a wet snow almost like rain, melted when it hit the ground. It was 33 degrees and the wind chill was 24. Can you believe it was in the 60s yesterday and will be again tomorrow. Crazy weather.
So happy I found you. I'll be back.

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I love going on short trips like that. It's funny when we were at the Outer Banks on the weekend (at the beach) I also found a heart shell! I was so excited because I love seashells and this was so perfect!
Sounds like you had some great meals! Yum!

Hi Linda,
Your trip sounds lovely and the food sounds really tasty too. I agree, the salt air makes everything better. Bodega Bay is fantastic - did you go to Goat Rock too? I love it there.
I am so glad you stopped by my blog and are a fellow beach goer. I do agree, there's no place like home. Your outing makes me want to take my Zeke to the beach - maybe this weekend. Thanks for sharing, I can smell the salt air already. Oh, the heart shell and rock - what a wonderful sign of a beautiful trip!

Sounds like a fun trip. We sold our larger trailer last year and now go on occasional outings in our Aliner. With gas prices what they are, it was a good decision. Our favorite destinations are the state parks in West Virginia. Still a little early in the season to be camping around here so I enjoyed reading about your trip.
