Scrapple Anyone ?????

Good morning everyone...a happy Tuesday to all. What??? Oh, no I spelled it correctly. Did you think I meant Scrabble? No this is Scrapple. It's a breakfast dish I wanted to share with you. When my husband was growing up he remembers his dad fixing this dish. He's not sure where the recipe originated or if his dad made it up, but they would have it when they needed to stretch the food budget, and with five kids this was somtimes necessary. We love just it because it is yummy. There really isn't a recipe so let me tell you how it is made. In a large skillet melt about 2 tablespoons butter. While this is melting peel a baked potato, cut it up and add it to the melted butter. While this is heating and getting just a bit brown.........Cut up two slice of white bread, be sure to leave the crust on. Add this to the skillet. At this point your are more or less frying the potatoes and bread together so you might need to add a little more butter. While your potatoes and bread are browning and getting a bit toasty.............Whisk up two or three eggs, add the eggs to the potatoes and bread and cook just like you would scrambled eggs. Season with pepper and if you like a touch of salt. That's all there is to it and now it's.....

ready to serve. Trust me this is nummy. Serve some nice fruit and your good to go. If you do try Scrapple you can adjust the recipe by just adding another baked potato, extra bread and eggs.

What is your secret to stretching the food budget?

Enjoy Scrapple and Scrabble too.....hugs Linda

~Hot Tea For Me~

Good morning everyone. This is the morning sky looking to the west from my front porch. I love this photo of the moon setting. For about the last week I've been taking pictures of the sky and just wanted to share the beginnings of a beautiful day with each of you. Did you know that January is National Hot Tea Month? Isn't that the neatest? Are you a tea drinker or do you prefer coffee? Actually I love both. Morning's I'll have one or the other and at dinner I usually have coffee. I think my love for tea began when I was very young. First, I had make believe tea parties with my dolls and as I grew older I would always share afternoon tea with my Gramma.
Beside enjoying tea I love books about tea too. These books are filled with all the information you would ever want to know about tea, tea celebrations and yummy recipes too.
This little tea pot is a favorite...I love roses and when I saw it I knew it had to come home with me.
The tea cups are treasures from my Morro Bay trip......except the yellow rose one. I bought it for a gift but when I got it home I found a small chip so I decided to keep it. It is still very pretty chip and all.
Well I think my tea is ready. This morning I'm having English Breakfast, one of the tea's from my swap partner. Add a touch of milk and a swish of the honey stick......Mmmm, delish.

Have a happy weekend......take a moment for yourself and enjoy a lovely cup of hot tea...you'll be glad you did. Linda

Sweet Things and Sunshine too

Oh, look a package. I wonder who it's for? Yippee!! It's for me from Elizabeth, my Vintage Heart Swap partner. Lily girl likes packages too. Let's see what is under all the pretty red paper.
Look at all the precious heart treasures. Can you see the sweet card Elizabeth created and look at the cute little matchbox, adorned with the sweetest piece of lace. I love the pink heart too......I'm putting this little box on my night stand with my favorite things. A basket filled with tea and a honey stick, yum and what beautiful red doily's........but wait there is more...
Fabric, buttons, and beads I'm going to have some fun creating. Did you see the darling potholders? Hand embroidered no less and very special. ....

Elizabeth thank you and I hope you enjoy you treats as much as I do mine.

Oh, one more thing. We both love to read (mysteries) and she sent me a great book based on the TV character Monk. It's a mystery with a science fiction theme....it's going to be a great read.

It's is another cold rainy day here but I received some sunshine from Robin......thank you for this wonderful award! I love it.......
Have a happy day..... and may your day's be filled with sweet things too, Linda

Hugs and Kisses and A Sweet Award

I'm really looking forward to Valentine's Day. I've been gathering all my treats and creating treasures for my swap partner...and guess what, I got my exchange gift in the mail Friday. I love everything and can hardly wait to share it with you later this week.
Have you started decorating yet? I've put a few things out and I couldn't resist buying some of the candies and now is the perfect time to share this beautiful moonstone covered candy dish. It's a Christmas gift from my good friend and I just love it.
Covered candy dishes are so hard too find and this is a gift I will always treasure.
I think it looks so pretty with the kisses and hugs too....... already for Valentine's Day.
Thank you dear Priscilla for this sweet award. It is such a honor to receive and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have met so many wonderful, amazing blogger's who inspire me daily and I'm passing this award to each of you.

Hugs and Kisses~~~Linda

It's Friday

Good Morning. I can hardly believe it's Friday already, for me the week just flew by. Did yours pass quickly too? I did all the daily things you do around the house, had an eye doctor's appointment and lunch with the Johnson girls. Lunch was so yummy and we had a lot of catching up to do as this was our first get together since Christmas.....and now poof here it's the weekend again. Oh, I should tell you this past week I've had lots of fun creating Valentine pretties and I picked up my cross stitching for the first time since before the holidays. All you wonderful creative crafters and stitchers have inspired me to be more productive...and all I can say is thank you for sparking me to get busy. Do you remember my Home Sweet Home sampler I showed you in October? I was hoping to finish it by Thanksgiving.......well that didn't happen. Here is the picture I posted , I really didn't work on it much after this picture.
I picked it up this past week and started stitching, this is the progress I've made....
It's coming along nicely, but I'm not predicting when it will be finished. All I know is that I'm enjoying myself and I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Do you see my new little sewing basket? I just love it! I found it this past Sunday at the WX Faire, as soon as I saw it I knew it was for me. I've been wanting something to set by my chair to keep my current project in and this is perfect.

Have a happy weekend. Be your own best friend and do something you enjoy. Linda

Second Sunday Of The Month

Good morning! Happy Monday to everyone. Another weekend has come and gone, did you have a nice one? I hope so. The WX Peddlers Faire is always the second Sunday of each month...rain or shine. Well, we have been having so much rain the past week and a half, I've had my fingers crossed for days, wishing for nicer weather, and it worked. No rain, but very foggy. I love the fog so that was fine with me. We met our good friends very early...it was still dark and for about a half an hour we needed our flashlights. This didn't slow us down and we just shopped away. This month there were less sellers (I think because of the weather) but we still found treasures. I found..... this beautiful table runner. It is all hand cross stitched in the sweetest rose pink color and I thought it would be pretty for Valentine's time. I didn't want to wait until February so I put it on the dinning room table, with this cut glass punchbowl that was my Grandmother's. I think they look lovely together. Here are most of my other finds................... Just some little items I'll add to my collections. After all the shopping we went to our favorite breakfast spot. They are still serving their yummy pumpkin pancakes, Mmmm, they were delish.

My DH goes to a little flea market every Saturday and look what he found......I'm crazy over green and just love depression glass. There are eleven salad plates and they are in very nice condition...........
Thank you honey...you are always thinking of me.

I've been tagged by Michelle at Cottage Home. I'm to share 7 unusual/weird facts abouts myself. I love reading tags but I'm having a hard time coming up with 7 facts to share. But here goes:

1. ~ Love unusual smells: gasoline, paint and my favorite skunk:).
2. ~ I don't like to wear tennis shoes.
3. ~ I have to sleep with a small light on.
4. ~ Ate white school paste.
5. ~ Love tripe...yum.
6. ~ Have to wear lipstick...or else I can't function.
7. ~ Love toe rings....have worn one for over 30 years.

I'm inviting anyone who would like to post 7 unusual/weird things about them self to do so........it's really fun and not painful at all.

Have a great day, do something nice for yourself and enjoy.......Linda

Comfort Food

Have your ever been to a Mimi's Cafe? They serve the most delicious food, something sure to please everyone. I love their soups and in the food section of yesterdays paper they shared the recipe for their corn chowder.... it is so yummy. We are still having lots of rain here and what could be better for dinner then a bowl of comfort food.
All the ingredient......I did use half and half as called for but I think you could use milk, it just wouldn't be as thick and creamy. One other small change I didn't have white pepper so I used good old traditional black.
Some chopping and then into the pot to simmer. It was so funny, I had a hard time getting this picture, my camera lens kept steaming up.
Into a bowl, and served with a warm crusty roll.........M'm, M'm Good! My husband was with Campbell Soup for 38 years so I took the liberty of using their famous line.
Here is the recipe. If you click to enlarge you will be able to read it.
Did you see these darling measuring spoons in the first picture?? Hearts! I love, love, love them. On the back of each spoon it says "and a pinch of love". How perfect is that?
Earlier in the day I received a surprise package in the mail from the most wonderful sister in law in the world. She is really like a sister and I love her very much.....we have been connected for nearly 50 years. She lives in Texas and even tho she is miles away she is just a phone call away. Oops, I got sidetracked, in the package were these precious measuring spoons and I just had to use them right away.
It is said.........Soup is liquid comfort~~author unknow.
What is your comfort food on a cold and rainy night??? If you make corn chowder ~~ enjoy! Linda

What Happened To My Squirrel Tree?

Yippee! I'm going to the park. I love going to the park....I just run in circles and play with the squirrels. My mom calls my running zooming, and the squirrels really don't play they just scamper up their squirrel tree and hide. Today is going to be great fun...I haven't been to the park for three days because of the horrible stormy weather we've been having...I can hardly wait to get there.
Oh no! What has happened? I don't like what I'm seeing.
Look what has happened to my beautiful squirrel tree.
I guess all the rain and strong winds were just too much for this wonderful old tree. My mom told me she has lived in this neighborhood since she was a teenager and she said this tree along with several other trees in the park are over 50 years old. I think we were pretty lucky that only one tree fell, there are lots of branches and limbs on the ground and the ground is very mushy. I know work crews will be out tomorrow to clean this all up and get things back to normal.
I'm sad...not only is my squirrel tree gone, but I don't see any of my little friends. I hope they are alright and found another nice tree in the park to live in.
That' my dad....don't fall in that giant hole. I have to keep an eye on my parents ~ I sure don't want anything to happen to them. Doesn't he look tiny next to the tree?

Well, I think I'll do a quick zoom...maybe I'll see my friends and then I'm heading for home. I'll be back tomorrow... to see how things are doing and I'll let you know when I see my friends. Lily

Be Still My Heart

This is the most wonderful little book that I received at Christmas. I just love it! I collect heart rocks , or I guess maybe I should say heart stones. I have a small collection and finding a stone created by Mother Nature.....shaped like a heart makes my heart sing. We are always on the lookout for these special symbols of love. Some of mine are kind of lopsided and they are not perfect...but very few things in nature are, and if I scrunch up my eyes I'll always see a sweet little heart.
I've shared these before~~~but hope you enjoy seeing them again.
This heart was found on a beautiful beach in Mexico, by my friend Brenda. I think it looks very much like the heart on the book cover. Do you agree?? There are three little pieces of beach glass in this picture. I found them on Glass Beach which is near Fort Bragg, California. Can you spot the beach glass??
My most favorite pieces.........I know you are thinking even if I do the scrunch thing these pieces do not look like a heart..........but look.....
Isn't that the neatest? I love it. My honey found these and they will always be the most treasured in my collection.

Pieces of love are everywhere~~~happy hunting...Linda
