Hi everyone, it's Tuesday and
Linda at Coastal Charm is hosting....
Nifty~~Thrifty~~Tuesday. Here is a lampshade I bought several years ago at the Galt flea market. I think it's both nifty and thrifty.
As soon as I spotted it I fell in love with it..and best of all I believe it was less than $5...I bought it several years ago and I truly can't remember what I paid for it but I know it was a " Thrifty" buy. Let me show you what some clever person did.....
They took an old lampshade, a vintage crocheted runner and bits of ribbon and created this shade by draping the runner around the lampshade and tying it with the bits of ribbon. "Nifty"!
I love vintage linens and this is such a pretty piece...kind of intricate and looks so pretty with the light shinning through. Hope you enjoyed my "Nifty Thrifty "find...hugs, Linda

That is a wonderful lampshade. I love vintage linens too and this is a wonderful idea to utilize and display a vintage runner.

Hi Linda,
Thanks for stopping by my blog for a visit. You were right, there was a tomato pin cushion in the tin of sewing notions I found. I think it's probably old (the rest of the stuff was) and I would like to send it to you for your collection. I don't collect those and I would like to see it go to someone who does. Send me an email with your address and I'll send it your way! I'll keep my eyes open for more when I'm out thrifting.

That is GREAT! I love linens and am thrilled to see creative ways to use them!! It must have been a thrifty buy if you can't remember what ya paid LOL!!
That is a very pretty idea Linda. I have several old large crochet doilies that need a new home somewhere. Thanks for the inspiration. I also saw your flowering plum tree in a previous post. We have one in our front yard but I will not see any blooms for at least 6 weeks. Seeing yours was a pleasure this morning. xo
Somebody was very creative.. and thrifty to repurpose such a pretty doily.
It is pretty!! My SIL has one almost the same idea, she loves hers too!

That's a great idea! I have been searching for new lampshades and have not been able to find anything that's not, well, ugly. I'll have to give this a try!
That is nifty! I love the lace. It's so beautiful. And, I've been perusing your blog--I think it's so charming! I love how you end everything with "hugs." Hugs to you, too! ;) Thanks for commenting on my blog. It makes my day!
I like old linens, too. Fun find!

It looks beautiful with the light on!
Please be VERY careful though & make sure you have a low wattage light bulb in that lamp & DON'T leave it on, unattended...like if you leave the house or are in another room. I melted a similar type of covering & darn near burned the house down. Yikes! Be safe!
I just started blogging. Nice to meet you on your wonderful blog.

Fabulous lampshade. I'm sourcing lampshades myself at the moment but I haven't seen anything as nice as that!
