This picture is....

"The Angelus" by Jean Francois Millet. I think it is wonderful and it's a favorite of mine. My friend Michelle and her sister both have this print....I was the last to find it at an antique faire, and was really happy when I spotted it, can't remember which faire, maybe WX. Anyway, I just love it! The first time I saw it and each time I look at it, it always reminds me of Thanksgiving. I imagine the young couple offering a prayer of thanks for their bountiful harvest, to be enjoyed at a Thanksgiving celebration.

To learn about the artist and the actual story of this picture click on his name....or you can just enjoy mine...hugs, Linda

I am so glad you made this post; I always thought it was called "The Gleaners" on the back of a very old prim set I had. You have shared a lovely post with us and I am corrected in my old thoughts.
One of my fav authors mentions "The Angelus" when writing of a heroine visiting a nunnery to see her sister.
How exciting we are nearing my favorite months of each year. Thankfulness for all we have and acceptance that it is all we need.
Be well Linda,
Gail

Linda, that truly is a beautiful and very thoughtful print! Hope you are having a fabulous weekend. I am off to a holiday open house this morning about 2 hours from my home. I am going with a blogging friend who I have just met. The first one I have met from my area. I am so excited. :0 xo Lynn

Linda, you have such beautiful, meaningful things around your home. I love that! Your house seems to be such a nice representation of who you are. The painting is beautiful, as is the turkey plate! I remember a favorite Country Living article from a few years ago, where the woman featured collected plates like that. I have a weakness for pottery so I always love to see what others buy!
