Today is a lovely warm sunny day, not fallish at all. I've been ironing about three hours and I need a break. I love to iron ,but enough is enough. It's so pretty out we decided to take Lily for a walk in our little park, just down the street from our house. We walk there nearly everyday. I love to pick up little pieces of nature and Lily sniffs everything and tries to find the squirrels in the trees. She can hear them but she can't figure out what's up there. I picked up these pretty little leaves, not much on the ground, no acorns today.... the maintenance men had just finished mowing.
They were trimming some trees and look what I got. This cutting is from a large tree, lots and lots of green foliage, with these beautiful little nubby balls. Red, orange and yellow , and even a green one. I wonder what color it will be? They remind me of candy or Christmas lights. I love them. Does anyone know what these are called?
I'm calling them pretty. Take a walk and see what pretties you can find.

Those look like Lychee nuts or fruit as some people call them. My aunt and uncle used to have Lychee groves and that's what the fruit looked like.

ReplyDeleteYou deserved a nice walk in the park after 3 hours of ironing.. I have a pile of linens to iron - maybe next week. I don't know what those are, but they look like candy to me! They are perfect for your fall decorations! Have a wonderful day and I will keep my eyes open for pretties.

OOhhh...they are pretty! I hope they dry nicely and you can keep displaying them throughout the Fall.I don't iron unless I absolutely HAVE to.

ReplyDeleteWere you in a marathon ironing race or something of that nature? 3 hours of ironing is hard for me to comprehend, LOL! I do enjoy ironing, especially my vintage tablecloths but about 15 minutes at a time is all I can take:)

I have never seen anything like that but it's so pretty and perfect for Fall decorating. I found some Osage oranges today that had fallen from the tree at the County Courthouse. Scooped some up to display in a glass bowl.
ReplyDeleteThose balls you cut from the trees are such beautiful colors, I have no idea what they are. I can't say I LOVE ironing, but I dont mind it and sometimes I really like it. My grandma used to let me iron pillowcases and other easy things when I was little and I thought it was a treat:>) LOL Now I just do my tablecloths, napkins and pillowcases, oh, and shirts, but I don't like shirts.

That berry you found is a strawberry tree. I actually knew something about a plant for a change! We have these in Australia too and I loved them so much I looked into them once.

We also don't mind ironing, (well this really only applies to one of the sisters!!)- and , ....we will whisper this,... Love to do laundry!! Shhhh- we don't want to share our dirty little secret too loudly!!
